50/50
2022 - Rhino + Illustrator

50/50 is an abstract model that seeks to find a balance between solid and void. The model explores curves, using rotation as a primary method for understanding wall placements. The boundaries of the model blur continuously as it strives to create new volumes.

The project began by extracting shapes from various floor plans designed by architect Enric Miralles. Using these shapes, three compositions were developed to examine the relationship between lines and curves, experimenting with the tension, compression, and expansion of space.

These shapes and compositions were then used to translate the language of composition from 2D to 3D through the extrusion and subtraction of forms.
